Rae Romero has a background in religious studies with a focus on witchcraft. During a long period of illness, their focus shifted towards art and creating through various mediums. Their current work primarily explores identity and queerness through photography.

They are currently working on several ongoing series. I Won't Let Others Define Me, I Define Myself portrays transgender people in The Hague as they wish to present themselves to the world. Did I Get It Right? explores their own discomfort with performing gender roles. They are also developing a series documenting queer families who have relocated from the US to The Netherlands.
